Jeff Barnes concentrates his practice in real estate transactions, real estate development, land use matters, business planning/transactions, commercial financing, formation of business entities and commercial litigation.
Involved in virtually every aspect of real estate and land use law, including acquisitions, sales, leasing and financing of motels, restaurants, bars, businesses, office buildings and residential buildings, commercial and residential development, zoning and planning, construction liens, drafting documents, contract negotiations, and contract disputes.
Jeff has provided legal services for over seven years to the Lower Township Municipal Utilities Authority (Solicitor, Special Counsel, and Conflict Counsel). In those roles, he has advised the Authority in all aspects of its operation, including transactional work, reviewing and executing leases and contracts and employment law.
Among other accomplishments over the course of his practice, Jeff has:
- Been involved in over one hundred land use and zoning applications on behalf of developers
- Obtained practically every variance possible
- Represented developers in all aspects of real estate development
- Successfully litigated a number of zoning appeals
- Actively interacted in obtaining CAFRA approvals
- Participated in numerous real estate tax assessment appeals
- Involved in various multimillion dollar commercial loan transactions on behalf of investors
- Negotiated many residential short sales and commercial workout arrangements
- Prepared loan documents on numerous occasions for private lenders, and
- Worked on matters involving commercial litigation related to real estate transactions
